When it gets dark, and believe me it will, don’t give up the fight. In the end, it will all be worth it! You may feel like all hell is breaking loose and the pain and confusion may be unbearable but the Bible says that the Lord will not give you more than you can handle. Sometimes, you have to lose to win.
Life was good. I had finally reached my goal of owning my own home. I had it built from the ground up in 2006! I never thought that I would be able to do that. My credit wasn’t the best but I was able to make it work! My home was beautiful! It had four bedrooms, two baths and over twenty-four hundred square feet. I lived in Katy, Texas. It was a well-established area with good schools.
In December 2007, I had just graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with my Masters of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. I was working for the State of Texas as a Rehabilitation Counselor. I had a good state job with benefits.
Although I was not married, I felt that I had done well for myself and my three children. I was a member of a local church. I had great friendships and would hang out with my girlfriends or host events at my home. I even had a timeshare. I would often use it as a getaway to de-compress and comeback refreshed. But, that was one of the first “extras” that was to go when I began to downsize.
Now, I was on the brink of losing my home. The year was 2008 and all hell had broken loose! The sad part was that I didn’t even see it coming and was not prepared! I could not have imagined how the next few years of my life would play out.
